Friday 17th May will be the 1st Birthday Celebration of our School Street!
We are so proud to have made it this far so please join us to help mark this momentous occasion. Children (and staff) are invited to come to school in active wear (trainers, sports gear, cycling clothes, PE kit etc) on that day.
At 8.20am on Friday morning there will be a parent/child group ride leaving from Heaton Moor Park and delivering riders to both the Juniors and the Infants. This is a bike ride for parents and their children with qualified ride leaders and should be a fantastic experience for the children. The ride leaders will gather at the Park Road entrance to Heaton Moor Park from 8.20am before setting off at around 8.30am and riding through the School Street zone on the roads. This is a ride for all of our children at St Thomas’ no matter how young. All we ask is that your child is able to ride a bike, has a helmet and their bike is road worthy (brakes working, tyres inflated, chain not stuck). We would love for you to make the effort to get your bikes out and join us.
Please note- parents must stay and ride with their child / children- although ride leaders will be present, the responsibility for the care of your child will fall to the parent.
At the end of the day, join us in the School Street zone to celebrate this amazing scheme and our wonderful volunteers who have given up their time and energy to keep the scheme running. Not only have they helped to make the roads around St Thomas’ safer and more environmentally friendly, but most importantly they have helped to promote active and healthy ways for our families to travel to school instead of making unnecessary car journeys. An ice cream van and coffee van should be out in the zone from 3.00pm and hopefully the sun will shine too!
We are looking forward to seeing you there.
